Tipo de ítem:Publicación, Sexual abuses in the peruvian ecclesial environment: Sexual abuses in the Ecuadorian ecclesial environment: The Bolivian caseSexual, psychological, and physical violence, particularly against vulnerable populations, is a pervasive problem in Ecuador and Peru, existing not only within families but also in educational, public, and ecclesiastical spheres. Research into abuse within the Catholic Church has been scarce, primarily taking the form of journalistic reports rather than academic studies. This chapter endeavors to analyze the incidence of abuse within the Ecuadorian and Peruvian Church. This will be achieved by delving into select emblematic cases, evaluating advancements and constraints in preventive measures, and pinpointing challenges in establishing safe environments. The objective is to foster an enhanced comprehension of this phenomenon. Tipo de ítem:Publicación, Curricular Changes and Teacher Performance: between duty and power to act(Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, 2025); Yauris Polo, William CamiloThe objective of this study was to analyze the perception of secondary school Communication teachers regarding the impact of curricular changes on teaching performance in schools in the province of Andahuaylas, Peru, 2022. Qualitative, descriptive and analytical study. The results indicate that the construction of categories of meaning from the teachers’ narratives characterized the experience of curriculum implementation as a dynamic and complex process. The constructs “curricular change” and “learning” turned out to be core categories that structure the participants’ experience. Tipo de ítem:Publicación, The Violence in Peruvian Fundamentalist Catholic Discourse: Case Studies on X (Twitter)(Common Ground Research Networks, 2025); ; Wong Leon, Aaron SimonResearch into the impact of the X network (previously known as “Twitter”) on the dissemination of ideas and political perspectives has surged in recent years. These studies provide crucial insights into the mobilization of public opinion, particularly within specific contexts of sociopolitical conflicts. In many cases, there is a marked polarization that is encouraged in the opinions of people who manage to have an impact on their publications. Recent political polarization in Peru has also resulted in protests. The last one experienced a high degree of violence in December 2022 and January 2023, which prompted a series of tweets from practicing Catholics whose public profiles coincided with publications that had a violent tone, even endorsing the use of weapons. The visibility of Peruvian practicing Catholics on X (formerly Twitter) gives the impression that the typical Catholic does not see conflicts between the practice of a faith, whose fundamental message rests in urging forgiveness and peace, and encouragement to violence. - Algunas métricas están bloqueadas por tuconfiguración de consentimiento
Tipo de ítem:Publicación, The Impact of Higher Education on Andean Spirituality: A Case Study with Quechua-Speaking and Rural Youth in PeruThe growth of rural–urban migration not only affects the social and economic adaptation of the new rural generations to urban spaces but also produces a series of changes in their mental representations, as occurs with religious beliefs. Contrary to the assumption that Christianity is a religion adopted by the Latin American population in a uniform manner and in accordance with the patterns of the official religion, the present study shows the deep-rootedness of pre-Hispanic beliefs in a group of students of rural origin and from the south of the Peruvian Andes. This belief system manifests the persistence of animistic traits in the spirituality of rural youth in the Andes. The qualitative study uses ethnohistorical, anthropological, and theological analysis tools to demonstrate that young people of rural origin who access higher education (approximately 10% of the total population of rural youth) would be developing, through processes of critical analysis, new ways of elaborating a religious synthesis between imposed Christianity and ancestral beliefs of Andean origin. - Algunas métricas están bloqueadas por tuconfiguración de consentimiento
Tipo de ítem:Publicación, Sarita Colonia: A New Spiritual WritingReligious experiences, although they share common elements, incorporate their context through geographies, traditions, ideologies, and stories. We propose to describe the emergence of an unconventional spirituality around Sarita Colonia, an urban-marginal character of the early twentieth century in the city of Lima, Peru. As a popular icon, it creates a spiritual prototype, and we will show, from an interdisciplinary perspective (especially philosophical and theological), how she intervenes in the urban-marginal social composition and how she proposes a new spiritual writing based on a well-defined religious experience. In this sense, our aim is to demonstrate how new values emerge from the sacred writing of Sarita Colonia that challenge the traditionally official ones. - Algunas métricas están bloqueadas por tuconfiguración de consentimiento
Tipo de ítem:Publicación, Spiritual Discourse in the Jesuit Missions: The Role of Nature in the Evangelization of Peru (Sixteenth–Seventeenth Centuries)The article explores how, notwithstanding their suspicions that the devil could take advantage of the animistic beliefs of Peru’s native inhabitants to consolidate idolatry, the Jesuit missionaries ultimately became more understanding of the spiritual Andean worldview. From St. Ignatius of Loyola’s postulate of “Contemplation to Obtain Love” in the Spiritual Exercises, by which God is acting and present in nature and inhabits creatures, and thanks to their continuous contact with the aboriginal population, the Jesuit missionaries were able to better understand the indigenous relationship with nature, for example through natural medicine and pharmacopoeia. They were therefore able to bridge some gaps in an intercultural exchange that produced forms of religious hybridization that are still a feature of Andean Christianity today. - Algunas métricas están bloqueadas por tuconfiguración de consentimiento
Tipo de ítem:Publicación, Ambiguous Loss in Grief Memoirs: Meaning Making in Auster and Giralt Torrente PatriographiesThis article considers grief memoirs as a medium to create meaning amid the ambiguous loss that occurs when someone close is gone without any apparent reason. This experience may be resolved through a life narrative that holds and accepts all the different versions of that complex relationship; the presence/absence ambiguity of the person lost may be clarified by creating a narrative that encompasses all possible explorations. The article approaches Paul Auster’s The Invention of Solitude (1982) and Marcos Giralt Torrente’s Tiempo de vida (2010) as “patriographies”—grief memoirs that achieve a meaning-making process through the different strategies they propose to deal with their fathers’ loss.
